Quite often parturition in animals occurs with difficulty. We recommend owner to call or visit the clinic when:

• Prolonged gestation greater than 70 days from first breeding date
• Has been in Stage I for over 24 hours (drop in temp, nesting, panting, trembling, in-appetence, vomiting)
• Has been in Stage II (visible contractions) for more than 1hour without fetal expulsion
• Has been in Stage III (expulsion of placental membranes) for more than 4 hours with fetuses remaining
• Abnormal degree of pain or depression
• Excessive bleeding or malodorous vaginal discharge
• Green-black vaginal discharge
